Information

Marjolein Varekamp studied at the Academy of Art “Minerva”, Groningen, the Netherlands (1978 – 1983.) During 1983 until 1988 she has made several illustrations: e.g. illustrations for children in Vrij Nederland, (a magazine) and illustrations for adults for “Larrios”, (a novel by J. Slauerhoff, in a limited edition by Stichting De Roos). She has also made a number of limited edition books (etching, silkscreen printing and letterpress printing) for her own private press “La Stampa Chiara”.
She stayed in London from 1988 until 1993. She studied Graphic Design at Middlesex University and made her first children’s novelty book: “Little Sam Takes a Bath”, (Sadie Fields Productions Ltd., London, 1991).


 

Her second children’s book: A Wonderful Week will be released in October 2009 (Bees Knees Books, California)

Marjolein prefers drawing animals with character and full of life.
Her graphic design is refined and clear at the same time. (e.g. Erasmus MC and Eurythron).
Marjolein is always on the look out for publishers, suitable authors, assignments.
